Great Dunmow Town Council Completes Transfer of Brick Kiln Farm Open Space
Great Dunmow Town Council is pleased to announce that the transfer of the public open space at Brick Kiln Farm has now been completed and ownership of the land has passed to the Town Council. The transfer has been completed by the parties and submitted to HM Land Registry for formal registration.
The acquisition forms part of the long-standing planning obligations associated with the Brick Kiln Farm development and secures the open space as a community asset for the benefit of residents of Great Dunmow.
The transfer brings to completion a process that began with the submission of planning application UTT/13/0847/OP in July 2013. The application proposed the demolition of three dwellings, associated outbuildings and derelict farm buildings, and the construction of up to 68 dwellings together with associated infrastructure and approximately 9.4 hectares of public open space. The accompanying Section 106 Agreement required the developer to offer the public open space to Great Dunmow Town Council for transfer, with the land to be retained and managed for the recreational use and enjoyment of the general public.
In addition to the transfer of the land, a commuted maintenance sum has been received to support the future upkeep and management of the site.
The Council would like to thank all those involved in bringing the transfer to completion and looks forward to managing and enhancing the open space for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
Amanda Alexander, the Town Clerk, said:
“We are delighted that this important transfer has now been completed. The open space is a valuable community asset, and the Council is committed to ensuring it is maintained and managed for the benefit of residents both now and in the future.”
Further information regarding the future management of the site will be provided as plans are developed.
