The Uttlesford Community Safety Partnership have worked alongside Great Dunmow Town Council to fit a permanent knife amnesty bin within the town, this is the first of its kind in the Uttlesford district.
The bin is situated in White Street, Dunmow:
What3Words location: mistress.defectors.incomes
The launch of the bin coincides with a knife amnesty, which will take place across the county from 9th May until 25th May.
The amnesty allows for anyone who wants to dispose of bladed articles to do so safely and without fear of prosecution.
The priority is for as many knives as possible to be taken off the streets of Essex.
Essex Police has now taken over responsibility for the bins, which are funded by the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC), the Violence and Vulnerability Unit (VVU) and Essex Police.
